Jay Crockett, Innovation Credit Union - Exile Island 2013:

Exile Island was an event that our team will not soon forget.  We often get caught up in our day-to-day issues involving timelines, ensuring we meet service promises, and doing so within our 9-5 workday.  We were humbled in the presence of our wish child Okeira’s strength when we met her.  This was their life and reality.  It doesn’t end for them after 5 o’clock.  Okeira and her family reaffirmed that life is what you make of it and through that message; it inspired our team to build on that energy and give it all we had.  It was truly an “Inn-Credible’ experience”.

Anca Pietroianu, BHP Billiton - Exile Island 2013:

This year, we had the privilege of participating in Exile Island Saskatoon.  The event was well organized and extremely fun.  Some of our fondest memories are having our wish child participate in the activities with us, the friendly competition between teams, fundraising events and working with the Exile Island planning team.  The overall experience was truly rewarding and we would gladly participate in the future.

Bruce Walls, Vice President, Human Resources and Industrial Relations: Areva Resources Canada Inc - Exile Island 2009:

AREVA got involved in the Children’s Wish Foundation’s Exile Island Corporate Challenge in 2009 as part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility. We saw Exile Island as an opportunity to partner with an important charity, whose efforts work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of sick and terminally ill children - while at the same time raising our profile in the community. Exile Island ultimately provided a unique and cost effective opportunity to develop and evaluate emerging leaders in our organization and served as an employee engagement activity that had a significant impact on both employee morale and employee retention. Exile Island became the focal point for engaging and energizing our employees; for building team spirit and camaraderie within and across departments; and for raising our profile and enhancing our reputation in the community. The wish children captured the hearts of AREVA’S employees, resulting in a clear commitment from everyone to raise the funds necessary to grant these wishes. Nine months later our employees are still talking about it and it remains the source of great pride for them personally, and with respect to our company, for allowing them to participate and make a difference.
